2oz Spruce Salve
Spruce resin has been a folkloric wound care for millenia. This salve is a simple, using the highest concentration of resin possible, with just enough sunflower oil and beeswax to make it into a salve. Resin is the medicine the tree makes for its own injuries, to protect itself from bacteria, viruses, fungi, insects and parasites. Strong, aromatic stuff.
8oz Spruce & Juniper Honey Syrup
Here, we harvest spruce tips in early spring and extract the juices with raw demerara sugar to make a syrup, then blend with juniper berry infused honey. It’s delicious in craft beverages, and our favorite is spoon-drizzled over creme fraiche and warmed pears.
2oz Headlands Elixir
We make a concentrated extract of woods-cultivated ginseng from the south shore of Lake Superior, blended with double-extract of reishi harvested in the Headlands north of Ellison Bay, and our Door County foraged spring spruce tip syrup. I keep this close.
8oz Skög Body Oil
Skög is Old Norse for forestland, and more specifically, dense forests composed heavily of conifers. Here, our oil is richly saturated with spruce tree resin itself, layered with evergreen needle extracts and essential oil. It’s deeply nourishing, and particularly valuable for dry and inflamed skin conditions. It’s dense, somehow not-greasy, and penetrating. This is tree medicine from the far-north, among the most revered by our ancestors.
8oz Wood Chopper Shrub.
This is a classic herbal oxymel. We use raw, organic apple cider vinegar and honey to extract white pine needle, bee balm flower & leaf, goldenrod flower and juniper berry, and add a splash of lemon juice. We forage all the botanicals here in Door County. Perfect as a winter tonic and in craft cocktailing, whether boozy or No/Low-Alcohol. We use it daily this time of year, in still water or warm apple cider.
